SNP Coverage Checker: Which DNA Test Includes Your SNP

Is that SNP in your DNA test?

Type any rsID, paste a list of rsIDs, or search a Genetic Lifehacks article title. You’ll see which DNA test files we checked include each variant, how sure we are, and — where it’s in a report — which Genetic Lifehacks articles explain it.

Try:

Caveats:

  • Your own file can still be missing the SNP. In a typical raw file, about 0.5–3% of positions are no-calls (shown as -- or 0 0). Some companies drop low-confidence calls from the download entirely, and chip versions change without notice.
  • Variants filled in statistically by a company or an imputation service aren’t counted here.
  • Use “Check my own file” to see if it is in your data. It runs in your browser, and your file is never uploaded.

SNP coverage results

Seen in a real file Found (k/n shown) in the real file(s) we checked for this test, Oct 2026
Not in files Absent from all files checked, where we have at least 2 files (3 for SelfDecode)
Unknown Not seen in the only file we have, or a non-rs (i-)ID not yet mapped — we’d rather say unknown than guess

Prototype v3 methods. Variant list: the Genetic Lifehacks master SNP list (3,353 rows, 2,171 unique IDs, 413 articles) — only rsID + article title/link are used here; no genotype or effect data is in this page. Coverage: first-column ID presence in real files checked Oct 2026 (23andMe v3 n=1, v4 n=1, v5 n=2; AncestryDNA v2 2020 download n=1 and Mar 2026 format n=2; MyHeritage 2026 n=2, two different people; SelfDecode n=3; tellmeGen n=1; FamilyTreeDNA n=1; StrateGene (testing era, 2022) n=1 (footnote: StrateGene offered testing at that time; now offers reports from other raw data files.)). ‘Not in files’ is only shown where n≥2 (n≥3 rule for SelfDecode is met); single-file absence and 23andMe i-IDs are Unknown. Presence is not your genotype, and a variant present on a chip can still be a no-call in an individual file. Ancestry’s shorter file format is dated Mar 2026 here, based on when customers first received it.
