I have been exploring my DNA since 2010 when I had it sequenced by 23andMe. I am very proactive about my health and love to share information with others. After using many sites to explore my genome, I finally found this site. What I love about it is that it doesn’t dumb things down and it does provide a plethora of useful information about achieving wellness. My supplement collection is now quite extensive and I feel healthier. I am 65, I am not on any medications and I hike 2 hours a day in all whether. Thanks Debbie Moon for your wonderfully detailed information. My daughter had blood tests done based on her DNA and her doctor was amazed to see how accurate her information was. Keep writing those articles.

As a hormone consultant, it is important and safe for me to work with such a high professional background. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Prior to joining Genetic Lifehacks I spent hours and hours researching the various SNP’s and conditions that afflicted my extended family. My family has a history of cancer, depression, and severe migraines. I was determined to get to the bottom of why these two conditions had such an devastating role generation after generation. This site has made it so much easier for me to understand the various mutations that were passed down to me and my siblings, and now my children, and mitigate their harmful effects. Through this site I have learned that forewarned is forearmed when it comes to harmful genetic mutations and that occasionally a mutation has a beneficial outcome for me. Thank you for making my research easier and sharing your knowledge with the world! It is truly a blessing for me.

Debbie has an amazing ability to present complex medical and genetic information in a way that is easy to understand.

Her research is very in-depth and thorough and her articles always include references to back up the data.

It is well-worth a subscription so that you can see the relevance of your own genetic variants in the context of the article, as well as the-life hacks section for members.

I really appreciate that Debbie isn’t selling supplements or any other product so there is no bias or hidden agenda in her articles.

This is not a site that says ‘if you have this SNP – take this supplement’, rather it helps you understand the effect of your genes working together.

Debbie is gracious in her correspondence with you and very willing to listen to all points of view.

This has been amazing..I will be listening or read about breakthrough or new discoveries in medicine and they will always mention certain genes involved etc. I jump on put it in search and there is detailed article with my personal genes. It has so many links embedded in the article. So many sources linked. Then groups of those topics that are click bait on other articles..,Best supplements to look young. Or why is your hair not shiny . What’s your risk of dementia and what you can do.., etc but they are real. Not only immediately connect w out ads but it’s personal to you. I can’t say enough, I am so impressed every time.

I came to your site for the privacy you offer, and stayed for the clear, well-researched analysis! It often takes *decades* for new research to reach the clinical setting, which is just heart-breaking when you’re watching a loved one suffer from a condition no professional seems to understand. You have helped my family find simple solutions for panic attacks, acid reflux, restless legs, and more! The consistent organization of articles allows me to choose how deep I want to dive into a topic, and to find the information I’m looking for quickly, whether it’s an at-a-glance assessment of the likelihood that genes are playing a role in a condition; or a bulleted list of ideas for possible interventions (including how they work, so I can quickly zero in on the solutions most likely to work for us before sinking time and money into remedies that don’t actually address the source of the problem); or a description of the metabolic processes that offer a deeper understanding of more complex issues at a systemic level. And I appreciate the abundant citations that allow me to see the details for myself. I’m so grateful for your work!

I have a problem converting a thyroid medication and my DNA showed why. It gave peace of mind and great relief to discover why I had this problem and then the proper steps could be taken to fix the medication to one that would work. Also, I have contacted Debbie with a few questions and I always get an answer within 24 hours, great information from her and Genetic Lifehacks.

Reading about side effects of statin meds I’m taking and learned that the gene SLCO1B1 gene could be related to the muscle pain I’m experiencing so I came here to genetic life hacks and low and behold, guess who has that gene. Sad that being a 72 yr old woman means that you are dismissed as whiny or difficult by doctors because you don’t want to take a medication that 75% of their patients are taking. I wish I could be more hopeful that they would credit the science but I don’t think it will be in my lifetime but Genetic Lifehacks is an incredibly helpful to my peace of mind.

I find the information from Genetic Lifehacks to be very informative. And best of all, you don’t have to be a scientist to understand! My only regret is that I don’t have more time to dive deeper and deeper into the topics that interest me. I shared this website with my sister-in-law and she spent hours reading various articles and came away with so many of her questions answered. Nowhere else had we been able to find reliable information, simply stated and with no underlying agenda. This has truly been a blessing.

There is no better genetic analysis that I can find. Genetic Lifehacks is the most comprehensive, best written site. One of the hardest things to do is to take a complex idea and simplify it, yet still remain accurate. This website excels at this. I have been a member for almost 5 years and the amount of hard work, research, and explanation well exceeds the cost of my annual fee. The amount of research each of the article entails is massive, yet each article is engaging, informative and intuitively answers all the questions that I have. 5 stars is not enough for the invaluable personalized information this website has given me.

An abundant amount of information. You can look up what you feel need to know and things your just curious about without having to pay separate fees. The monthly subscription fee is reasonably priced, for the research and information you get in return. You can learn about the information provided, and seems to come from a genuine person who wants to help, not just make a buck, although it is not free, it seems if it were possible for this person to survive and provide it free they would, but they have bills too. You can jump straight to your info and skip all the reading, or really dive into it. I would definitely recommend especially if you are just starting out and curious about everything!

Genetic Lifehacks has been very helpful. You put together genes that are related or work together. The first two genetic companies did not. But you all need to look again at folic acid. Everyone keeps saying I should take folic acid because of my slow COMT, and good B9 snp in MTHFR. So wrong. DHFR results say I should not allow any folic acid in my body. I can’t use it at all. It is poison to me, and apparently everyone else.

A month after turning 50 my brother died of colon cancer. Genetic Lifehacks picked up that I have the gene with a 40% more probability of colon cancer from red meat. My brother was making his own sausages with a machine and loved barbecued food. Thanks to Genetic Lifehacks I now take 5-MTHF instead of the standard supplement and at age 69 the polyps weren’t cancerous.

Review of Genetic Lifehacks:

I am 58 years old and have been sick for the majority of my life with one thing or another. It was just recently that I began to understand that most of my illnesses were autoimmune disorders.

I was adopted as a baby. By the time I reached second grade without realizing it, I was noticing that I was ‘genetically’ different than the other members of my family.

I was the oldest child out of five children. As it happens with quite a few women who adopt my adopted mother became pregnant shortly after my parents had welcomed me into their home. I have a brother who is just eleven months younger than I am. My father was terribly worried that the judge would not finalize the adoption because my adoptive mother was nine months pregnant when the court date came around to sign the papers making me a permanent member of the family. But the judge signed the papers and my mother ended up having four biological children.

In second grade I recall the genetic differences became very evident to me. I was the only one in the family with blue eyes. I was the only one in the family who would get sunburned. I was more apt to catch colds and stay home sick from school. I finally asked my parents if I was adopted. They confirmed my suspicion with “You were chosen!”

Growing up I was always sick with something and made it known that I wanted to locate my biological parents to see what else I should expect to happen to me health-wise. At the same time, I was almost constantly experiencing this foggy feeling in my head. It was made worse when I was sick. I could not think, and it was difficult to complete my schoolwork. I dreaded the sound of a sneeze because if it came my way, I was sure to get whatever it was that that person was sick with.

It was before DNA, but that was exactly what I was looking for when I started my search for my birth parents. That story is a story in itself and perhaps I will put it in writing one day but I managed to locate my biological parents when I was twenty-nine and learned that many of the illnesses I had experienced as a child ‘ran in the family’.

I continued to get sick and found myself on disability by my mid-forties. Doctors were not always nice to me. Many of them did not believe I was really ill. I wish DNA technology were there for me those years ago fighting with the doctors to please help me get better.

One day last summer I was going through all the vitamins and supplements I was taking. I decided that over the years that I was just taking too many and I really needed to cut back on and make sure what I was taking was really helping me. So I started with my B-Complex vitamins. I decided I was only going to take the B vitamins I really needed to take so I started doing research on the individual B Vitamins starting at the beginning with Vitamin B1, or Thiamine.

I learned that Thiamine was an “essential vitamin’! I learned that Thiamine helped with fatigue and confusion. That it also reduced instances of numbness or tingling in the fingers, feet, and head. It also helped with my lack of appetite as well as many other health benefits I could use.

I also looked up Vitamin B2 – Riboflavin and decided that too was a vitamin I needed to take. I placed an order that day with Amazon for Vitamins B1 and B2. The Vitamin B1 or Thiamine arrived first, and I immediately started taking it the morning it arrived.

It was about 3 days later when I noticed that the ‘Brain Fog’ I had been living with was not so pronounced. Another 2 days went by, and the “Brain Fog” had gone out to sea! It felt like there was only sunshine in my brain and I was eager to find out why! That’s how I came across GeneticLifehacks and Debbie Moon.

I was doing one of my Google searches on Riboflavin (B2) and I came across GeneticLifehacks! I spent a few days with my brain fog gone reading articles that a week ago I would not have been able to comprehend. Debbie wrote about all different subjects that I found so very interesting and I got hooked. I signed up last summer and it was absolutely the best thing I have done for myself in forever!

Via Debbie’s articles I learned that I was taking medications for years that were doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me because my body did not metabolize those medications or that the medications were out of my system in less than an hour. And I learned how to look up ahead of time whether a medication will help me or hurt me.

Debbie’s articles told me that I had Statin Myopathy. No wonder I got sick every time a doctor tried to prescribe a certain medication for my super-high cholesterol!

Debbie’s research confirmed I was indeed Lactose Intolerant. It also alerted me to some allergies I was not aware of that could have been potentially dangerous to me.

I have several autoimmune illnesses and am a member of some support groups. I share with the other members what I learn here and I highly recommend to my fellow members to preview Debbie’s articles and if they like what they see get a DNA sample and upload it to GeneticLifehacks and be astounded at what they will learn about themselves.

I have learned that I possess several genetic mutations that now that I am aware of them my life is so much
better.

Debbie’s hard work made me realize that this information is critical. The future of the use of genetic information is mind-blowing. How I wish I had access to this knowledge decades ago.

Debbie is a teacher and a wonderful teacher at that. She is also a lifesaver! What I have learned here I know has increased my mortality rate significantly!

Thank you, Debbie, for all you do!

MM – Forever grateful!

I love the indepth additional information in the articles as well as the additional reviews of research. My only regret is that 23andMe doesn’t provide a more robust genomic analysis as lots of times I can’t “see” all my genotypes. But that is not the fault of this website. It is a fantastic value for the cost and I regularly use it (vs. some other services/apps I pay for and don’t use on a regular basis)

So glad I found this site! I love all things scientific and was among the first to send in my sample to 23andme when they first started. However, the health reports based on my original data are now VERY few and far between (and usually something silly like whether you prefer salty or sweet snacks). I don’t care two hoots about that stuff, what I DO care about are health related things that are posted on this site, such as the most recent one about cold sores (that have plagued me my entire life). By copying and pasting the data she lays out in a very easy to follow format (into your 23andme “raw data” search bar) I have found out much more about important issues than I would ever have by just relying on 23andme to send me health reports. The best thing about this site is how absolutely well organized, clear and easy to understand it is. I would recommend ANYONE interested in genetic information to bookmark this site or JOIN!!! Thank you so much!!!

I love this site, and the services that Debbie provides. I needed to treat my condition with natural remedies due to long term medication being harmful to my heart. There are no lies in DNA, and I now take the right supplements for me. I even learned about what could be causing an irregular heart-beat, as not mechanical afterall but caused by a missing vitamin. Best of all, I can take my new-found knowledge and ask for the right tests to prove my theory. I often tell my friends and relatives about Genetic Lifehacks, that’s how much I believe in it. I really do feel that this service is eye-opening to hidden issues that one may have or may encounter health issues as they age. I would recommend this site highly to anyone who wants to improve their own health. Thank goodness there is accessible and open information out there for us, and it’s affordable!

what would I do without genetic life hacks I have no idea. I will speculate that I would be at the doctor all the time like my sisters are. I would be uncomfortable half the time and I would feel like I felt 5 years ago. old. in my opinion this is the way I prevent myself from suffering and potentially dying early in the same ways my parents did. until medicine catches up, I feel like I’m on my own with these complicated genetic pathway situations, but not completely because there’s help in resources. which is why I’m writing this here. I find the work of Debbie Moon absolutely indispensable to me with navigating past the profit based medical culture we are stuck with in my country, and in taking control of my own aging, which I’m lucky enough to experience.
